One of the more strange supergroups to exist during the '70s was the Greedies (aka the Greedy Bastards). Phil Lynott took an interest in the punk movement of the late '70s, and got friends with members of such bands as the Sex Pistols, the Damned, and the Boomtown Rats. With time off from Lizzy during the most parts of 1978, Lynott sought to put together an ad hoc outfit comprised partly of Lizzy members, along with members of punk bands. It's unclear if it was Lynott's original intention for the group to rotate its bandmembers, but that's exactly what happened for a total of four shows during the year.
Steve Jones, Paul Cook, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham and Phyl Lynott (Thin Lizzy & Sex Pistols combined) played "A Merry Jingle" on this setup in 1979.
Other people that have appeared in the Greedies are: Gary Holton, Gary Moore, Jimmy Brain, Rat Scabies, Chris Spedding and Bob Geldof.
And to show you all that words don't really matter, here the same group on Kenny Everett Finale 1979:
